About me…
I had always held a keen interest in animation since childhood but it wasn’t until my mid-thirties that I decided it was something I wanted to do for a living.
With no college or university education on the subject I decided to try to teach myself some animation techniques and disciplines.
In 2009, After an intense 10 month internship in two of Scotland’s leading animation studios I began working as a freelance animator.
Mainly 2D animation and character design, occasionally some 3D animation, and a fair bit of storyboarding for various projects.
I have worked on children’s entertainment and educational programmes, most recently as a Lead Animator on three seasons of Sky Kids’ award winning The Brilliant World of Tom Gates.
I was recently credited as Art Director to the animation department of the documentary film My Old School which was featured at the Sundance Film Festival 2022.
“Lonesome Jones” is an animated short film I made in the early part of 2023.
I don’t want this to sound too much like a CV but my other interests are playing music, cookery, cinema, and toy collecting.
I grew up in the UK but currently live in Japan with my wife and daughter.
